Wine Tastings Schedule
“Wines of Austria”
Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6–7pm
Since the late Middle Ages, Vienna has been the major wine trading hub of Central Europe. With its unique vineyard sites along the Danube River, and even more unique grapes such as Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch, and Zweigelt, the variety of Austria can appeal to all wine enthusiasts. Our sommelier, Steven Gullo will detail the rich winemaking culture and history of this country as you sample appetizers that our chef has matched to these versatile wine selections. You’ll discover why the quality of Austrian viticulture has brought worldwide attention to the region.
“Greek Symposium Tasting”
Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6–7pm
Ancient texts reference winemaking in Greece as far back as 7,000 BC, when the Greeks would participate in lavish feasts, called symposiums. Join Sommelier Steven Gullo at Paramour’s very own Greek Symposium and discover little known white and red grape varieties such as Assyrtiko and Xinomavro (You will learn how to pronounce them too!). All wines will be paired with traditional Greek mezze, and homage will be paid to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine!
Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6–7pm
With over three hundred indigenous grape varieties, it is no wonder that Italy is literally a nation of vineyards! During this tasting, Steven will provide an overview of Italy’s many wine-producing regions from the northern Alps to the southern reaches of Sicily. Guests will also explore the fine wine epicenters of Tuscany and the Langhe Hills of Piedmont. Discover why food and wine are synonymous at the Italian table, as Steven discusses the dynamics of wine pairing with Italian delicacies, all expertly crafted by our culinary team.
