Wine Tastings Schedule
“Around the World in Bubbles”
Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6–7pm
Although New Year’s celebrations may have come and gone, there is never a wrong time to indulge in a glass of “bubbly.” Steven will guide a tour of the world’s finest sparkling wines including Champagne, California sparklers and Spanish Cava to name a few. Enjoy the variety of bubbles highlighted by the Chef’s selections of cuisine as Steven discusses the dynamics of pairing food with sparkling wine.
“Wines of Spain”
Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6–7pm
Enjoy a guided tasting that explores the treasure trove of Spanish wine. As the country with the largest vineyard acreage in all of Europe, and a winemaking history that dates to the Ancient Romans, the Spanish are adept at combining ultra-modern winemaking techniques with centuries-old tradition. The result is wine with abundantly complex flavors. Steven will pour and discuss many different wines including sparkling Cava, crisp and citrusy Albariño, and bold, rustic reds of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. All wines will be served alongside Spanish tapas.
Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6–7pm
The vineyards and châteaux of Bordeaux produce some of the most sought-after wines on the planet. Most collectors would agree that enjoying a fine, vintage bottle of Bordeaux is a contemplative experience; a wine meant for sipping and savoring. The art and craft of blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes is a tradition dating back over 400 years. Even Thomas Jefferson was a devout proponent of the claret wines of Bordeaux! During this class, guests will sample a range of styles from both the left and right banks of the Gironde estuary. Whites, Reds, and even the rare sparkling Cremant de Bordeaux will all be poured as guests enjoy food pairings with an emphasis on Bordelais cuisine.
